Osakwe continued his mastery of aerospace engineering at the Delft University of Technology. He found the program via study companies. We asked Osakwe about his experience of researching and applying to a university abroad:
“My name is Osakwe Ozichukwu, I’m 23 years old and I come from Nigeria. I studied mechanical engineering for my bachelor’s degree in Nigeria and I am now studying aerospace engineering at the Delft University of Technology. The Netherlands. The duration of the course is two years with a year dedicated to an internship and the thesis of the mastery.
To be honest, I always wanted to study aerospace engineering for reasons that I find very difficult to explain. I’m not a huge fanatic of planes and things like that, but I have always loved doing things that push me beyond my limits, and I guess the biggest, I could think of studying Aerospace engineering.
Delft University of Technology
In my country of origin, Nigeria, there is currently no university institution or superior institution offering aerospace or aeronautical engineering courses, so I had to go elsewhere to study.
The first and most important criteria I used to decide which university to attend was the structure of the program. I believe that the most effective way of learning is to combine the theory with practical experience that is missing in most of the world’s main programs; So choosing the Delft University of Technology among the offers I received was obvious. Then I envisioned the links with companies, then the culture.
For me, it was an aerospace genius or nothing. So when I received offers that were not bound to the aerospace, I have possible. I had an offer from the University of Sheffield to study aerodynamics and aerostructures; I also had an offer from the University of Michigan to study aerospace engineering and others to study different courses.
But I think about the appearance, my mind has been put on the University of Delft Technology. The way the aerospace engineering program has been structured, the courses available, and student reviews among many other things have only been used to strengthen my decision to attend the Delft University of Technology. So when the offer entered, I did not hesitate to accept it.
Studentsportals was very helpful in finding a Delft University of Technology and making my final decision because I was able to get information and compare all the universities that interested me. I could also get information about admission requirements and essential facts about many schools.
An English language test is required for foreign students whose mother tongue is not English or who did not have their education taught in English. My country is not recognized for English, so I had to take one.
I took the IELTS which I believe is easier and much more recognized around the world. It was very easy to practice the IELTS test because the practice material supplied by the exam body contains exactly the structure of the exam itself.
I would recommend students from my country and other countries who wish to study abroad to do quality research on the course they wish to study and find out which school is perfect for this course.
Do not just look at the big names because even some lower schools are much better in some areas than the very classified. In the end, it’s the quality of education you get that would be obvious in your career.
I would advise future students to ensure that the source of their finances for studies is not undoubtedly and would be able to support them through their studies because it is not advisable to plan to work. of the study. “
